Project Profile

For the first time under the current owner’s tenure, the 38 year old Walk Arcade will be redeveloped in what is an ambitious mixed use Hotel and Retail development. The unrivalled central Melbourne retail core location at the intersection of Melbourne’s primary shopping street, Bourke Street Mall and the city’s north-south laneway network, make it a once in a lifetime opportunity to create an iconic Melbourne landmark.

The design brief focuses on creating high value exposure retail frontage to Bourke and Little Collins Streets to attract international flagship and local high-end concept stores. This is aimed at promoting the development of The Causeway and Union Lane as primary through-street connections and destinational places, true to the Melbourne laneway tradition.

The development will deliver a destination address for a dual-branded International hotel chain – an address notable for its city centre location, sense of place and distinctive architecture. Additionally, an assembly of buildings combining retained heritage facades and distinctive, contemporary building forms integrate and enhance the significant heritage streetscape it inhabits and provides activated, human scaled public realm interfaces.

Codicote was engaged by Steadfast Capital in early 2018 to carry out our complete suite of consultancy services including Development Management, Construction Advice, Construction Planning, Design Management and Project Management. The Construction Advice and Construction Planning inputs of this significant redevelopment project in what is a highly congested location within Melbourne CBD is critical to its ultimate success. It is a project where Codicote can add real value and maximise our Client’s returns.
